On Wednesday, October 13, all 11 teams converged on the California Speedway in Fontana, just east of Los Angeles, to see each other's project vehicles for the first time and to strut their stuff in a number of different trials. One by one, the vehicles arrived, mostly on flatbed or in covered transport.
We could tell that the gang from Dirt Rider and Sport Rider were clearly old pros as they quickly set up their trailer and overhead tent to have a comfortable and functional home base. There was only momentary disappointment that the Custom Truck Chevy Silverado would not be able to run any trials because the seatbelts had not yet been installed. Some quick thinking and ingenuity remedied that problem in a hurry and the Silverado hit the trials with the rest of them.
The "Best Pit Crew" award must go to the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad who, despite a broken front axle very early in the day, rallied to find replacement parts, fixed the Integra in record time and made an excellent showing in all four of the day's trials.
The vehicles all participated in four trials, with the exception of Hot Rod's front engine dragster which did not participate in the Braking or Slalom trials...for obvious reasons.
